Requests for the issue of the tax code attribution certificate can be submitted exclusively by Italian citizens or foreigners resident in the consular district of the General Consulate of Italy in New York and addressed via email to newyork.codicefiscale@esteri.it.

Please read these instructions carefully , as incomplete requests or requests submitted in other ways will not be processed.

The issuing of the tax code is always free.

Each request must be sent individually from the applicant's email address, and must include the applicant's name in the subject in the format SURNAME, Name: CF certificate .

The documentation listed below must be attached (links or images copied into the body of the email will not be accepted) in PDF format to the address newyork.codicefiscale@esteri.it , from Monday to Thursday from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm

If you hold foreign and Italian citizenship, you must apply as an Italian citizen or hold an Italian passport.
DOCUMENTATION

For Italian citizens:

AA 4/8 form completed digitally (forms completed by hand will not be accepted) and signed (you must print it first, then sign it and scan it in pdf format);

Copy of valid Italian passport;

Copy of the driving license or other document showing the address of residence in the consular district.

If the applicant already has a tax code assigned by the Revenue Agency, he must indicate it on the form and in the text of the email accompanying the request.

It is specified that, for the purposes of assigning the Tax Code, Italian citizens are entitled to the surname assigned according to Italian law at birth.

The Italian citizen who intends to request a tax code attribution certificate for a minor child must attach:

the AA 4/8 form mentioned above in the same way (i.e. digitally completed, signed and scanned), ticking the "Request for Third Party" box, selecting the code "10" in the "Applicant Type Code" box and reporting the exact personal details of the minor (as present on the Italian passport);

Copy of the valid Italian passport or copy of the minor's birth certificate (if born in the USA, long-form).

For foreign citizens

The appropriate declaration indicating the reason for requesting a tax code

It is specified that, for the purposes of assigning the Tax Code, for foreign citizens, the surname appearing in the passport is taken into consideration which, in the case of married women, may not correspond to the surname assigned at birth.

The foreign citizen who requests a tax code attribution certificate for a minor child must attach:

The AA 4/8 form mentioned above in the same way (i.e. digitally completed, signed and scanned), ticking the "Request for Third Party" box, selecting the code "10" in the "Applicant Type Code" box, indicating in the "Registered Residence" field ” the one where the minor resides and reporting the exact personal details of the minor (as present in the passport);

ISSUANCE OF THE TAX CODE CERTIFICATE

Once issued, the tax code certificate (which also contains the specific barcode useful for activating SPID), will be sent to the applicant via email as a PDF file, which can be printed and used for all purposes permitted by law.

The applicant must promptly verify the accuracy of the data and immediately communicate any inaccuracies to the Assistance Office at the following e-mail address amministrazione.newyork@esteri.it . In fact, the office can cancel a certificate containing inaccuracies only within a few hours of its issue .
